शास्त्रीय संगीत के प्रसिद्ध गायक पंडित जसराज नहीं रहे. मेवाती घराने के पंडित जसराज का सोमवार को अमेरिका में निधन हो गया. वे 90 साल के थे. उन्होंने अमेरिका के न्यू जर्सी में अंतिम सांस ली. पंडित जसराज के निधन से संगीत जगत शोक में डूब गया है.
जसराज के परिजनों की ओर से दी गई जानकारी के मुताबिक उन्होंने स्थानीय समय के अनुसार सुबह 5.15 बजे अंतिम सांस ली. 28 जनवरी 1930 को जन्मे पंडित जसराज ने भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत को नई ऊंचाई दी. पंडित जसराज ने भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत को विश्व फलक पर महत्वपूर्ण स्थान दिलाने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई.पंडित जसराज के निधन पर प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने ट्वीट कर शोक व्यक्त किया है. उन्होंने पंडित जसराज के निधन को दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण बताते हुए कहा है कि इससे भारतीय सांस्कृतिक जगत में गहरा शून्य उत्पन्न हो गया है.

संगीत जगत में अपने जीवन के 80 साल से अधिक समय तक सक्रिय रहे पंडित जसराज ने भारत के साथ ही अमेरिका और कनाडा में भी शास्त्रीय संगीत का परचम लहराया. संगीत जगत में उनके योगदान को सलाम करते हुए अंतरराष्ट्रीय खोलीय संघ ने साल 2006 में खोजे गए हीन ग्रह 2006 वीपी 32 का नाम पंडितजसराज रखा था.
पंडित जसराज को संगीत विरासत में मिली थी. उनका जन्म ऐसे परिवार में हुआ था जिसकी चार पीढ़ियां संगीत से जुड़ी रहीं. चार साल की उम्र में ही पंडित जसराज के सर से पिता का साया उठ गया था. उनके पालन-पोषण का दायित्व बड़े भाई पंडित मणिराम की देख-रेख में हुआ.
