तीरथ सिंह रावत की सास ने बताया कि उनकी बेटी रश्मि भी छात्र जीवन में अखिल भारतीय विद्यार्थी परिषद से जुड़ी रही हैं. 1996 में एक कार्यक्रम के दौरान रश्मि मंच से भाषण दे रही थीं. उस समय स्टेज पर तीरथ सिंह रावत भी मौजूद थे.

तीरथ सिंह रावत ने मंच पर भाषण देते हुए रश्मि को सुना तो कुछ ही दिन बाद फिर घर पर रिश्ता आ गया. उन्होंने बताया कि रिश्ते के वक्त उनका परिवार थोड़ा हिचकिचाया कि तीरथ राजनीति में हैं लेकिन बाद में परिवार ने हामी भर दी.

1999 में तीऱथ और रश्मि की शादी हो गई. तीरथ की सास ने बताया कि उस वक्त रश्मि पीएचडी कर रही थीं. यही नहीं वह रश्मि मिस मेरठ भी रह चुकी हैं और उस दौर में जब रश्मि मिस मेरठ बनी थीं, तब वो रश्मि के चेहरे को कवर करके अपने साथ ले जाया करती थीं.

सुषमा त्यागी का कहना है कि एक ज़माने में तीरथ पार्टी कार्यालय और संघ कार्यालय में झाड़ू भी लगा दिया करते थे. आज उनकी सादगी ने उन्हें उत्तराखण्ड का सीएम बना दिया.

उन्होंने बताया कि तीरथ और रश्मि की एक बेटी है. उनके कार्य के प्रति समर्पण को लेकर उन्होंने बताया कि अगर तीऱथ जी की बेटी जिया भी किसी कार्य के लिए अपने पापा से कहती है. तो उस काम में भी देरी हो सकती है लेकिन देश और पार्टी का कार्य सर्वोपरि होता है.
