दो महीने से लगातार सुलग रहा छत्तीसगढ़ का ये इलाका, कोयले के स्टॉक तक पहुंची आग, हज़ारों की आबादी ख़तरे में
Chhattisgarh के कोरिया जिले के चिरमिरी ओपन कास्ट एरिया में खदान लंबे समय से धधक रही है। कोयले में सुलग रही आग को बुझाने को लेकर SECL प्रबंधन खास गंभीरता नहीं दिखा रहा।
पिछले 7 दिनों में पूरी खदान की आग आगे बढ़ रही है। अब यहां रखे गए कोयले के स्टॉक तक लपटें पहुंच चुकी हैं। इस तरह की आग से निपटने के लिए पुख्ता इंतजाम होते हैं, मगर ओपन कास्ट एरिया में लगी आग को गंभीरता से नहीं लिया जा रहा।
अब तक इसे बुझाने में दिखाई गई लापरवाही का ही नतीजा है जो लपटें बेकाबू होने की स्थिति में हैं। इससे खनिज संपदा का तो नुकसान हो ही रहा है साथ ही साथ आम लोगों को भी अब जहरीले धुएं के बीच जीना पड़ रहा है।
अपने आप लग जाती है आग
गर्मी के दिनों में ज्वलनशील गैस और कोयले से भरी इन खदानों में खुद-ब-खुद आग लग जाती हैं। ऐसी खदानों को फायर प्रोजेक्ट एरिया कहा जाता है। कोयले का गुण है जलना। अगर एक तय समय में कोयले को नहीं निकाला जाए तो वह स्वतः जल उठता है। इससे कार्बन मोनोऑक्साइड जैसी गैस फैलने लगती है। पिछले दो महीने से चिरमिरी के इस इलाके में खदान का कोयला जल रहा है। अब आग बढ़ रही है।
जोखिम में मजदूरों की जान
फायर प्रोजेक्ट एरिया में आग को बुझाने की बजाए, जलते हुए कोयले का ही ट्रांसपोटेशन किया जा रहा है। यहां जेसीबी के जरिए खुदाई जारी है। इन धधकती खदानों में काम करने वाले मजदूरों की जिंदगी हमेशा खतरे में बनी रहती है।
यहां काम करने वाले श्रमिकों का गला सूख रहा है। मगर रोजी की आस में वो यहां काम करने को मजबूर हैं। तीन साल पहले इसी इलाके में एक श्रमिक जलता कोयले में दब गया था। फायर स्लाइड की वजह से ऐसा हुआ था। एक ट्रक भी यहां जलकर खाक हो चुका है।
