WHO का दावा: भारत में काफी लंबे समय तक रहेगा कोरोना का संक्रमण, वायरस के साथ रहना सीखना होगा…

देश में कोरोना के मामले अब भले ही कम हो रहे हों किंतु विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) की मुख्य वैज्ञानिक डॉ. सौम्या स्वामीनाथन ने एक ऐसा बयान दिया है जिसने फिर से चिंता बढ़ा दी है। स्वामीनाथन ने बताया है कि भारत में कोविड-19 एक तरह से महामारी के स्थानिकता के चरण (एंडेमिक स्टेज) में प्रवेश करता जा रहा है, जहां पर निम्न या मध्यम स्तर का संक्रमण अभी भी जारी है।

क्या है स्थानिक अवस्था

स्थानिक अवस्था वह होती है जब कोई आबादी वायरस के साथ रहना सीखने लगती है। लेकिन यह महामारी के चरण से बिल्कुल अलग होती है, जहां वायरस आबादी पर ही हावी हो जाता है। इसका यह मतलब है कि अभी भारत को कोरोना से छुटकारा पाने के लिए बहुत लंबा इंतजार करना पड़ेगा।

एक साक्षात्कार में स्वामीनाथन ने कहा कि शायद हम एक तरह से स्थानिकता के चरण में प्रवेश करते जा रहे हैं, जहां पर निम्न स्तर का संचरण या मध्यम स्तर का संचरण अभी भी जारी है, लेकिन हम उस प्रकार की जबरदस्त वृद्धि और हालात देख नहीं पा रहे हैं जैसे हमने कुछ महीने पहले ही देखे।

जब स्वामीनाथन से यह सवाल किया गया कि भारत में ऐसी स्थिति क्यों उत्पन्न हो रही है तो उन्होंने इस सवाल के जवाब में कहा कि भारत में विभिन्न हिस्सों में जनसंख्या की विविधता और प्रतिरक्षा की स्थिति के कारण यह हो रहा है। संभव है कि यह उतार-चढ़ाव की स्थिति इसी तरह जारी रहे।

2022 के अंत तक 70 फीसदी टीकाकरण का लक्ष्य- स्वामीनाथन

स्वामीनाथन ने यह उम्मीद जताई है कि वर्ष 2022 के अंत तक हम उस स्थिति में रहेंगे कि हम 70  फीसदी तक टीकाकरण के लक्ष्य को हासिल करेंगे और देश में हालात वापस वैसे के वैसे सामान्य हो सकते हैं।

बच्चों में कोरोना के प्रसार को लेकर स्वामीनाथन ने कहा कि बच्चों के माता-पिता को घबराने की जरूरत नहीं है। आगे उन्होंने कहा है कि हम सीरो सर्वेक्षण को देखें और हमने दूसरे देशों से जो सीखा है, उससे पता चलता है कि बच्चे के संक्रमित होती को संभावना हो सकती हैं। लेकिन, सौभाग्य से, अधिकतर बच्चों को बहुत ही हल्की बीमारी होती है।
